Such different lace
Sophisticated flowers and unusual patterns created with the help of threads… Lace, woven on the hoops, embroidered, etched on the fabric – this is a real miracle! Here you will find the most beautiful types of dimensional lace.
GUIPURE
The name of this lace comes from the French word guiper – “to weave”, which reflects the essence of the method of its production: a convex openwork pattern is embroidered on a thin fabric. At the end of the work, the fabric is removed – and only the lace remains! Previously, the fabric was etched with acid, which is why this lace is also called etched. Today, tissue removal is done using water or high heat.
LACE ON COCKROACHES
It is woven with the help of a large number of koklushok (special wooden sticks) on which the threads are fixed. Sorting through the cockles with their hands, the craftsmen cross the threads in a certain order, creating patterns.
NEEDLE LACE
One of the most refined types. A pattern is applied to black cardboard and threads are laid along its contour. Then the mesh-base that came out is hemmed with stitches of a loop seam. In the process of work, connecting threads are pulled out to form lace decorations.
FRIVOLITE
Originally from Italy, such lace is called occhi, which translates as “eye”. And indeed, the main element of the pattern has an oval shape. Separate elements of the lace pattern – rings and arcs – are woven with the help of a small shuttle, in the body of which there is a coil with a thread. Frivolite lace patterns are made up of various combinations of these elements.
ELASTIC UNDERWEAR
This lace is machine-made from polyester with added elastane, resulting in extremely thin, stretchy lace forms. Such lace is best suited for finishing underwear or blouses.
EMBROIDERY ON CANVAS
It is made with white threads on bleached linen or cotton fabric. In the process of work, small holes are cut in it or they are made by pulling threads from the fabric in a certain way. Here is one of the options for lace fabric – Richelieu embroidery or Madeira embroidery. It is used for processing simple fabrics and making borders.
